Sclerotherapy
Types of treatments
Sclerotherapy is a medical technique used to treat varicose veins and spider veins. It consists of injecting a sclerosing solution into the sick vein, which causes its closure and reabsorption.
For varicose veins located in the lower limbs, the general principle of sclerotherapy is to initially treat the pathological veins feeding the apparent varicose veins, then to gradually treat the lower varicose veins of the leg. This allows optimal and more sustainable results.
Compared to other therapeutic approaches to varicose veins, sclerotherapy is not invasive, requiring minimal recovery time. It often prevents the need for a surgical intervention for varicose veins.
Superficial Sclerotherapy
This is a fast, non invasive approach. This treatment is a procedure that involves injecting a liquid solution into smaller more superficial veins. An inflammatory response will cause the elimination of the small vein.
Echosclerosis
This is also a fast, non invasive approach. It is done with an ultrasound guided approach, allowing to target bigger and slightly deeper veins. A liquid or foam medication is injected in the vein. This causes a spasm in the varicose vein, allowing the blood to circulate in the functional non varicose veins only. The healing process will lead to destruction and disappearance of the varicose vein.
